The highlights of an Uganda Safari Tour in a 3-week trip

We support your individual arrival in Entebbe and assist you when selecting your flight. In  Entebbe, you will be picked up and taken to your accommodation.

Day 1: You will start from Entebbe towards Jinja, which is the second largest city of Uganda with about 90,000 inhabitants. Jinja has become famous very long time ago, because people believed that Lake Victoria is the spring of the River Nile. Even if we know today, that  the spring of the River Nile lies in the mountains of Rwanda and Burundi, for the Ugandans Viktoria Lake is still regarded as the spring of the Nile.

Day 2: Transfer from Jinja to Sipi. The journey will take you through a variety of landscapes with papyrus swamps and typical ugandan villages with small road side markets. After lunch the landscape will change again and you will travel through the lush rocks of the Wanale Cliffs.

Day 3: Today you will visit the waterfalls of SIPI and have a beautiful walk through the varied landscape with wonderful views and opportunities to take pictures.

Enroute you will visit a typical small Ugandan coffee farm and learn all about the coffee production: planting, harvesting and roasting and a coffee tasting. After that you will take part  in a rural “cooking class” and taste local specialities. 

At the end oft he day your guide will take you to another viewpoint and you will experience a breathtaking sunset.

Day 4: You will continue to Mororo. The road will take you on a way through the impressive Table Mountains Napak and Akisim. In the afternoon you will have a nice walk at the foot of the 3000m high Mount Moroto. Mount Moroto is situated on the border with Kenya and in the midst of a thorn bush savannah.

Day 5: Inthe morning you will a visit the tribe of Manyata. Manyata are one of the resident and former warlike tribes of the province of Karamojas. You will learn about the former village life of the semi-nomadic tribes and observe their songs and dances.

Continue to kidepo Valley National Park, which is said to be the most species-rich park of Uganda. Here you are close to the borders between Sudan, Kenya and Uganda. Hot Springs, a sometimes dried up river bed and the dry, warm air of savannah are a remarkable contrast to the tropical rain forest in the south-west of the country.

 In the late afternoon your guide will invite you to a game drive in this species-rich national park. 

Day 6: Today you will go on a safari tour in this Kidepo Valley National Park, which ist he most natural and touristically untouched National Park in the world. Kidepo Valley National Park is secluded and is partly difficult to access. A real adventure as some areas oft he park can only be accessed  in the dry season from October to March. 

You will see zebras, lions, elephants, buffaloes, there are different species of antelops, giraffes, kudus and much more. With a bit of luck you can find a leopard or even a cheetah. In addition, Kidepo Valley National Park gives home to over 450 species of birds.

Day 7: Today we continue to Murchinson Falls National Park, the largest (almost 4000sq km), oldest and most famous national park of Uganda. In the view of some experienced tour guides  MFNP is THE highlight of any Uganda tour.

Day 8: You will take part in a morning game drive. The morning will be unforgetable with its peaceful atmosphere, its wonderful soft light and cosy temperatures oft he early day.

In the afternoon, you will go on a boat safari on the Victoria Nile to theMurchinson Falls, that have given the park its name. On the way you will watch hippos, crocodiles and other animals. With a bit of luck, you will be able to spot the rare and very shy shoebill stork and several other of the over 400 species of birds living here.

Day 9: Today you will go on a whole day safari tour in a different part of MFNational Park.  Your guide knows exactly where he will lead you to. Often the guides communicate with each other and tell when they have noticed something special, so that other guests are able to participate in this.

Day 10: Today it is a bit quieter. You can sleep in and after an extensive breakfast continue to  Kibale National Park, where another highlight is waiting for you. Enroute  you can enjoy the view of the Albert Lake, endless tea plantations and (depending on the weather) a wonderful sight of the Rwenzori Mountains. The journey also leads through the Bugungu Wildlife Sanctuary.

Day 11: In the morning you will be given the opportunity to have a chimpanzee Walking Safari. Like gorilla tracking  Uganda is a chimpanzee tracking one of the highlights of any Uganda roundtrip. In addition to these partly habituated groups you will be expected by 12 other primate species. Another special feature in this park are forest elephants.

In the afternoon you will  enjoy a guided walk through the marshes of the Kibale NP, where you can observe the species-rich bird and butterfly world.

Day 12: Today we continue in the Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP). The almost 2000sqkm large QENP is situated in the west of Uganda and is still very rich of species, although the animals are still regarded as threatened . There are many elephants, warthogs, buffalo herds and you can find lions and leopards. QENP Is one of the most famous parks of Uganda.

In the afternoon you will go on a game drive to detect all the wonderful world of QENP.

Day 13: The morning game drive will take you through another part of the QENP, which always surprises ist visitors with its very different landscapes (savannah, scrubland, forests, marshes and lakes).

In the afternoon you will experience the impressive animal world from the waterside. A boat trip on the Kazinga Channel is one of the most beautiful and animal-richest experiences in Uganda: hippos, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles and many species of birds you will be able to watch in a relaxed atmosphere and at very close range.

Day 14 : In the morning, you will go on another game drive to Yshasha, in the southern part of QENP. The famous tree lions live there. Only here you can see lions, that doze on trees during the day. If you are lucky you can discover several lions on one tree and take home wonderful photos and videos.

In the afternoon we continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and thus to THE HIGHLIGHT  of your trip, a gorilla tracking in the volcanic southern Uganda.

Day 15: Your guide will take you to the meeting point early in the morning. They will provide you with more information and in a group to a maximum of 8 visitors you follow the footsteps of the Gorillas from their nightly nest to their current feeding place. An encounter with these gentle giants is one of the most impressive animal encounters in the world. From finding the gorillas there is one  hour of time, to observe, to take pictures and videos  and to enjoy.

Day 16: Drive to Lake Bunyoyi, which is  the most beautiful freshwater lake in Uganda. Lake Bunyuonyi is about 1960 m above sea level and surrounded by cultivated hills, up to 2200m high. It is 25km long and 7km wide and encloses 29 islands.  The name means “place of birds”. 200 different species of birds live here. In the afternoon, you will take part enjoy a boat trip along the coast and islands. 

Day 17: In the morning is once  sleep in and relax in the beautiful lodge.

After lunch continue to kisoro. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to take a walk through the village. There is a large market on Mondays and Thursdays. The population of the surrounding villages come to sell their goods and buy sugar, salt, soap and other products for your own needs, you do not connect or install itself.

Day 18/19 during these two days you may choose from several options

  • Golden Monkey tracking in Mghahinga National Park. The Golden Monkeys are one of the rarest primate species in the world, they are strongly threatened and live only here. They are small, lively and playful – and lovely to watch! It is never exactly sure where the groups are currently staying. Often the way also happens to be a bit steep or slippery. For this reason, we recommend to plan no further activities for that day.
  • Another Gorilla tracking in Mghahinga National Park in a different vegetation and a different composition of the gorilla family. It is never exactly sure where the groups are currently staying.   • Visit an organic coffee farm. There you will learn about the whole process from planting to the roasting of coffee incl. Coffee tasting of fresh hand roeasted coffee. You will also learn about the production of organic fertilizers and biopesticides . The  side-by-side growing of banana, mango, avocado and coffee plant is a model for sustainable cultivation. (Duration approx. 2-3 hours)
  • You will learn about the village and community life in a “living museum”. You can watch and take part in the village life, incl. brewing beer, market events, wedding celebration and homecooking.( Duration: approximately 2 -3 hours)
  • Batwa Trail and Garama Cave. This cave is about 340m long and used by the Pygmy tribes established earlier for their protection and as a place for their ceremonies. The trail shows the everyday life of this ancient tribe incl. their food, medicine and culture. (Full Day Tour)

Day 20  Travel to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda through the beautiful volcanic landscape of Rwanda. Depending on the departure time of your flight, you can visit the Genocide Museum, the great remarkable market in Rwanda and  the Palace before your guide takes you to the international airport of Kigali (Rwanda).
